Director of Community Development
The City of Louisburg is searching for Director of Community Development to ensure that development within the city occurs legally and logically, provide assistance to citizens and gather information for the City Council. This position will supervise the city's planning and development function as well as building inspections.
Primary duties include:
- administer government plans and policies affecting land use
- draft regulations pertaining to land use and development
- gather and analyze data from market research, census and economic and envirornmental studies
- conduct field investigations to analyze factors affecting community development/decline, including land use
- assess the feasibility of development proposals and site plans and identify for approval or denial
- stay current on zoning and building codes, environmental regulations and other legal issues
- assist in the management of the city's current infrastructure and urban resources
- oversees the recruitment, employment and evaluation of staff
The candidate should
- have a bachelor's degree in planning or related field, master's is preferred;
- Certification with American Institute of Certified Planners, preferred:
- Member of American Planning Assocation, preferred;
- Minimum of 8 years of planning/zoning experience with 4 years of supervisory experience
The City of Louisburg offers a competitive salary, paid medical, dental and vision insurance, paid holidays, paid vacation and Kansas Public Employees Retirement System. The salary range is $75,000-$85,000.
