Burn Permits

burn permit graphic

Burning is allowed inside the city limits on Friday and Saturday only. Although burn permits are not required for City of Louisburg residents, you must call the Miami County Sheriff’s Office at 913-294-4444 option 4, prior to any burning.

Permits are required for those persons that reside outside Louisburg city limits in Rural Fire District #1. A permit application can either be filled out online and emailed to the address on the form or brought to Louisburg City Hall. Forms are also available at City Hall. Permits are not available at the Louisburg fire station. There is no charge for a permit but persons who wish to burn are required to call the Miami County Sheriff’s Office prior to burning at 913-294-4444 option 4. A permit is valid from January to June or July to December. No permit number will be issued. There is no need to call the Louisburg Fire Department prior to burning. Please call the Miami County Sheriff’s Office at the number above each and every time you plan to burn.

Burning is allowed 1 hour after sunrise and 1 hour after sunset. A responsible party must remain at the burn location for the duration of the burn. Additional regulations are available on the permit.
