Sewer Maintenance

City of Louisburg 2019 sewer maintenance map.

A City contractor is currently conducting sewer maintenance by cleaning out sewer mains throughout town. During this clean-out, while although unlikely, water can be forced out of the toilet bowl. If this happens to you, City representatives spoke with plumbers who said the plumbing’s ventilation system may need to be inspected for defects. The home or business owner might also consider installing a backflow preventer as this will prevent this from occurring. Additionally, the City will not pay for any clean-up. This maintenance clears potential plugs in the line. Other good tips are if you have a sewer line clean-out in the yard leave it open and to be sure toilet lids are closed.

Sewer lines in pink on the accompanying map have been cleaned out. Lines in yellow are scheduled to be cleaned by Friday.
