It's time to get Fido a dog tag

The 2019 dog tag is a red, heart-shaped tag.

A tag is required for all dogs older than six months. Tags are good for the calendar year and are payable by May 1 to avoid a penalty. A tag for a spayed or neutered pet is $3 and $5 for a non-spayed or non-neutered pet. Pet owners should provide a copy of their pet's rabies vaccine. As with most cities, Louisburg's City Code requires a pet to be tagged. The tags help confirm that pet owners are vaccinating their pets to prevent the spread of rabies. It also helps to identify the owner of an animal that is running at large if the pet doesn't have another tag.
Tags may be purchased at City Hall during regular business hours 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

No more than three dogs and only five pets in total are allowed per household.

Pit bull breeds are prohibited in the city limits.
