The Fishing Derby is sponsored by the City of Louisburg. The event is always the Saturday before Father's Day each June from 7-10 a.m. at Ron Weers Park at City Lake. Check out the opportunities below and then click this link to volunteer.
Registration
7-8 a.m.
Two to four volunteers are needed to register children the morning of the fishing derby.
Fishing Assistant
7-10 a.m.
The assistant should like to fish and be willing to assist children with fishing, especially those that might not have fished before. An unlimited number of assistants are needed.
Judge
7:30-10 .m.
Six or more judges are needed to measure each fish caught and record its length.
Tabulator & Prizes
Four to six volunteers are needed to help determine the most fish caught, biggest fish caught and total inches of fish caught. These volunteers will also distribute prizes to youth who participate in the derby.
Food
9-11 a.m.
Two to four volunteers are needed to grill hot dogs and set up and distribute food to the youth after the fishing derby is finished at 10 a.m.
Clean-up
10-11:30 a.m.
An unlimited number of volunteers are needed to clean up the area when the derby is over.
